A California native, Dan grew up in Los Gatos when it was the Santa Clara Valley, not Silicon Valley. At a time when there were still orchards and old head trained vines, that he and his friends would feast on when they ripened. As a freckle faced boy, he never dreamt that he’d fall in love the intoxicating nectar that flows from those grapes.His passion for wine (and need to protect his wallet) brought Dan to home winemaking see picture of the Safe Haven label, his Dog Jack and his winemaking buddy’s Tabby cat Romeo.

From professional baseball player, to world traveler to tree planter to Buddhist contemplative to mental health professional, for the past 13 years, Dan has has been indulging his passion for wine by opening the door to wine country, for his guests.

When asked what he enjoys most about being a tour guide, Dan replied –

“My intention is to create and provide an experience that lasts a lifetime. I want my guests to be able to choose a bottle out of their cellar two years later, pull the cork, and relive the memories of the people and place that made that wine.
